What’s next in the fight against doping?

After the ban of several Russian athletes from the 2016 Olympic Summer Games, this measure was hotly disputed by the sports world .

With the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea approaching, it is again debated whether the Russian Team will participate.

A decision on whether or not they are allowed to participate will be announced on 5th of December by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

WADA is, according to a recent press release, further upholding the non-compliance status against the Russian anti-doping agency RUSADA, meaning that it does not fulfil the criteria given by WADA in order to be compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code.

The global fight against doping will be very much a topic at the Play the Game Conference in Eindhoven this year. Stakeholders will take up on the status of global fight against doping. How can the work of anti-doping agencies be improved? What steps are necessary in order to reform the systems of doping investigations? And how are they able to respect personal athletes rights while insuring strict testing of athletes?
